Hello Cornerstone Family,
I just want to start by saying, I MISS YOU ALL! We have experienced more change over the past couple of months than any of us were really ready for. The amazing thing is the change still is not over. We continue to adapt day by day and move ahead moment by moment. I have been completely blown away and encouraged by the resolve and determination of our church. I am so thankful for the way in which so many of you have been diligent at staying connected. I have heard so many stories of how people have creatively reached out and loved on one another through all of this.
This month we saw the beginning of the reopening process of the Commonwealth. Governor Baker began lifting some of the restrictions for gatherings regarding churches. I want you to know that as a leadership team we have spent a lot of time seeking God’s wisdom, asking many questions, and consulting with experts and others facing the same decisions we are. We continue to weigh things out daily and look to the guidance of those who have the clearest understanding of where our state is in this process. We have said from the beginning of this COVID-19 season that we would approach all things with courage and wisdom. We will not be led by fear, nor will we be foolish as we move towards re:Gathering. We will be bold, yet safe. We will look to make the wise decisions that God is calling us to make. So included in this letter are Cornerstone’s plan for the initial phase of our plan to re:Gather Cornerstone.
Our first service back is this Sunday, June 28, 2020. We will begin our process of stepping toward in-person services. We will start by inviting only our Leadership Team, their families, and our Senior Saints – age 59 and older. With current directives, Cornerstone Kids will not yet be available. We also want to consider our seniors in a safe environment, as they are longing to gather in church. Online viewing of services will continue to be available for all. We are asking that if you are not a senior saint or a member of the leadership team or staff that you do not attend at this time. This will allow us to discover what all is truly needed to invite the entire church family back into the building in a socially distant and safe environment. We will allow ourselves as much time in meeting this way to journey to a phase four opening.
Our plan, as of today, is to begin inviting our whole church family back to 122 Gardner Road beginning on Sunday, July 12, 2020. For this service, forward – we will be using Eventbrite reservation system through Facebook or you may call the church on Tuesday and Wednesday 10 AM – 3 PM to speak with Carrie for a reservation or you can leave a message on the Cornerstone voicemail.
It is important for you to know that during every step of this process we will be following the state guidelines for social distancing and sanitation. This means that even when we return and begin gathering together again, things will not look the same as they did now and Pre-COVID-19. Our desire, is to not put anyone at risk or force anyone into making a decision they are uncomfortable with. We will continue to live stream our weekend service and Wednesday night “The Wall” prayer gathering. Honestly, God has blessed us with the ability to be a church family online and we have seen Him move in homes and lives in ways we probably would not have been able to experience otherwise.
We will communicate all details through email, letter, social media/video through this process. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone for your prayers and the grace you have given us as we have made these decisions. Nothing about this has been easy. We long to see our church family again but we also desire to lead the way in wisdom and safety. Please know you are loved, valued, greatly appreciated, and prayer for daily. As we move forward together, I for one, am excited for what God is going to do in this next season.
